FDL Technique

  • 41 Steps

About

The FDL technique is for experienced photographers, with intermediate to advanced skills. It requires a full understanding of the controls of the camera in full manual mode, as well as the basic principles of light. The FDL technique is a combination of lighting technique and post processing, and both require a bit of artistic skill that can easily be mastered with enough practice. A good understanding of layers and masks in Photoshop, as well as a working knowledge of the pen tool is needed. In this course you'll learn how the FDL look is achieved, what equipment you'll need and how to set up and shoot your first car fine art photoshoot. In the post production workflow, you'll learn what to look for when selecting the images for the layering process, how to layer the individual exposures, as well as the fine tuning and saving of the final work of art. The FDL technique is a lighting technique developed to shoot rare and beautiful cars right where they are (basically where the cars are in museums, garages or dealership floors) with minimum equipment and disturbance. If you like to travel light, shoot fast, anywhere at any time, this is the course for you.
